Trikut Parvat Deoghar – History, Ropeway Timing, Entry Fee

Trikut Pahar is situated around 15 km away from Deoghar city on the way to Dumka at Mohanpur Block of Deoghar District in Jharkhand state.

Trikut Parvat Deoghar is often confused with Trikuta Parvat in Katra, Jammu due to its identical names.

Trikut Parvat (Popularly known as Trikut Pahar or Trikut Hill) is one of the most exciting tourist destinations in Deoghar, where you can enjoy Trekking, Ropeway, Wildlife Adventures, and a safe natural retreat.

There are three main peaks of the Trikut Hills (thus the name “Tri”) named after the three Hindu Gods, Bramha, Vishnu and Mahesh (Shiva). Out of the three, two peaks are open for tourists.

The highest peak goes to the height of 2470 feet from the sea level and around 1500 feet from the ground, making it an ideal location for trekking. Only two of the three peaks are considered safe for trekking, while the third one is inaccessible due to its highly steep slopes.

Trikut Parvat is also a significant location for its natural beauty. The hill is covered with clouds in rainy seasons, and waterfalls and small streams are visible from July–to September.

The Trikut Pahar’s foothills are encircled by the Mayurakshi River, which flows through Jharkhand and then through the districts of Birbhum and Murshidabad in West Bengal before flowing into the Hooghly River.

Trikut Pahar Ropeway (Cable Car)

The Ropeway (Cable Car) is the major tourist attraction in the Trikut Pahar. The Ropeway takes the Tourists to the top of the main peak.

Trikut Pahar is the only tourist destination in Jharkhand where the ropeway is used. The length of the ropeway is approximately 766 meters (2512 ft) which is the highest vertical ropeway in India with a maximum lens angle of 44°.

There are a total of 26 cabins available for tourists in Trikut Ropeway, in which four people can sit in each cabin and it is only 8 to 10 minutes to reach the peak. And after reaching the peak, the view from there is very spectacular. The thrilling panoramic 360-degree view of Deoghar is worth seeing.

The Ropeway offers picturesque views of Deogha and enthralls tourists with a ride amid rocky terrain. It provides a completed panoramic view of the scenery and landscape around.

There are lovely views of the mountain, and solar panels situated in Tapovan Pahar (The first solar energy hub in Jharkhand) are visible from the top of the hill.

If you are an adventure lover, you can take stairs and a trekking route to reach the hilltop. Trekking at the Trikut Pahar will be an adventurous and fulfilling experience for you. Trekking normally takes 2-hour while the ropeway would cost you around Rs.150.

Trikut Pahar Ropeway Timing and Fee

Ropeway service starts from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Entry closes after 4:00 PM and only tourists who have gone to the hill can return.

The ropeway fee is Rs 130 per person and Rs 65 for a child. This is a two-way travel fare.

Trikut Pahar History

Trikut Parvat is also a popular place for Pilgrimage. In the dense forest on the uphill lies the famous Trikutachal Mahadeva Temple or Trikut Parvat Temple and Saint Dayananda’s Ashram.

There is a belief that while Ravana was taking Shivlinga to Lanka from Kailash through this route, he landed at the hilltop in the middle of his voyage; hence, one of the points on the Trikut Hill is named Ravana’s Helipad.

Trikut Parvat is situated on the Deoghar- Dumka route. From Deoghar Bus stand its distance is 21 Kms and the same for the train route. You can take either a bus or train from Deoghar to reach here,

You can also book an auto/cab from Deoghar, or Dumka, or from Jasidih depending on where you are coming to visit Trikut Pahar.

Best Time To Visit Trikut Parvat Deoghar

The best time to visit Trikut is from September to March. But if you want to see the waterfalls and Mayurakshi reverbed, then you should visit during July -August.

If you want to enjoy trekking or ropeway then it is better from morning 8 AM to the evening before sunset.

Tips For Visiting Trikut Pahar Deoghar

  • Be careful and cautious of the monkeys. They can snatch your small items such as sun-glass, cameras, mobile, or any edibles.
  • Wear comfortable footwear. It will help you climb up the hill by stairs.
  • Take special care of the kids. There is a lot of uneven areas on the hill, and the kids can fall.
  • Carry enough water and snacks.
